Wimbledon Championship Beginning


Wimbledon Championship is the main UK tennis tournament held annually at Wimbledon. Singles and doubles are admitting to the main events on the basis of their international rankings and performances at grass court events. 
In the men's and women’s singles 32 players have been given seeding 16 teams in the doubles events since the 2001 tournament. Main events
In the main events five main events are played which are men's Singles, Women’s Singles, men's Doubles, Women’s Doubles and Mixed Doubles events.

Junior events
In the junior events and teams and individual events are Played are Boys' and Girls' Singles, Boys' Doubles and Girls' Doubles.

 Invitation events
In the invitational events and individual and teams events are included which are men's Invitation Doubles, Senior Gentlemen's Invitation Doubles, Ladies' Invitation Doubles, Gentlemen's Wheelchair Doubles and Ladies' Wheelchair Doubles.
Match Events
Men's singles and doubles matches are best-of-five sets, all other events are best-of-three sets. A tiebreak game is played if the score reaches 6-6 in any set except the fifth (in a five-set match) or the third (in a three-set match), in which case a two-game lead is reached. 
All events are played in the elimination tournament with the exception of men's, women's and Senior Ladies' Invitation double, round robin tournaments. Until 1922 the winners of last year's competition byes into the final round of grants are played. This led to many winners retaining their titles for successive years, the rest, as they can, while their opponents were the first competition was held. Wimbledon championship Programs

Development of Wimbledon Championships


In 20th century Wimbledon is broadly considered to be the leading tennis tournament in the world and the main concern of Club is to maintain its leadership. In 1993 a long term plan was created to improve the quality of the Championship matches to attract the more spectators, players, officials and neighbors. Plan was divided into three phases.

1994–1997
Phase 1 of the plan was accomplished for the 1997 Wimbledon championships and involved building the new No. 1 Court in Aorangi Park, a broadcast centre, two extra grass courts and a tunnel under the hill linking Church Road and Somerset Road.

1997–2000
Phase 2 involved the elimination of the old No. 1 Court complex to make way for the new Millennium Building, providing wide facilities for player’s media and members, and the extension of the West Stand of the Centre Court with 728 extra seats.

2000–2012
Phase 3 has been fulfilled with the construction of an entrance building club staff housing, museum and bank and ticket office. The new retractable roof was built in 2009 during the championship, the first time in a long time that the rain does not stop play center court. In 2009 new 4,000-seat 2 Yard was added the house on the site of the old No. 13 Court Championship. The new 2000-seat No. 3 Court was built on the site of the old No. 2 and No. 3, the Court Club tested the new roof, and the event is called Centre Court Celebration on Sunday, 17 May 2009, exhibition matches involving Andre Agassi is shown, Steffi Graf, Kim Clijsters and Tim Henman.

Beginning Years of Wimbledon Championship

Wimbledon Championship is established in 1868 All England Lawn Tennis and Croquet Club initially England Croquet Club is came into existence. It is the first ground for Wimbledon Championship. Club Name was changed in 1877 to The All England Croquet and Lawn Tennis Club and signaled its change of name by instituting the first Lawn Tennis Championship. All the rules changed and old rules replaced by Marylebone Cricket Club for the event. Some of these rules are still exist such as the height of the net and posts and the distance of the service line from the net. The men's Singles was included in Wimbledon Championship on the 9th July 1877. First men's Singles event was won by Spencer Gore, an old Harrovian rackets player, a field of 22.
